Lead Youth Development Coordinator

About

The Lead Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for helping lead the daily operation of the MentorSports youth development program. This position works directly with participating youth while also providing day-to-day leadership and coordination of program activities, staff, mentors, and volunteers.

What you'll do

* Lead and supervise the daily youth development program
* Provide direct supervision of children throughout program hours
* Plan and lead age-appropriate lessons, enrichment activities, and group discussions
* Provide homework assistance and oversee designated academic/study periods
* Lead activities focused on character development, leadership, life skills, teamwork, and personal development
* Coordinate sports, recreation, and physical-development activities with coaches and other program staff
* Maintain daily schedules and ensure smooth transitions between activities
* Manage student behavior and consistently enforce program expectations
* Maintain attendance and other required program records
* Oversee safe arrival and dismissal procedures
* Communicate appropriately with parents and guardians regarding routine program matters
* Identify and report behavioral, safety, academic, or other concerns to program leadership
* Help coordinate Youth Development Assistants, mentors, coaches, and program volunteers
* Provide direction to volunteers during program hours
* Assist with staff/volunteer orientation and training
* Help prepare classrooms/program areas and ensure supplies are available
* Assist with planning field trips, special activities, guest speakers, and youth events
* Follow all MentorSports child-safety, emergency, incident-reporting, and confidentiality procedures
* Serve as the day-to-day program lead when the Program Director is unavailable or off-site
* Participate in staff meetings, training, CPR/First Aid training, and other required professional development

Requirements

* High school diploma or GED required
* Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, child development, recreation, social work, human services, or a related field preferred, but not necessarily required
* Previous experience working with school-age children required
* Previous experience leading or supervising youth programs strongly preferred
* Strong classroom/group-management abilities
* Ability to plan and facilitate educational and recreational activities
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Ability to lead volunteers and work collaboratively with staff, parents, mentors, and coaches
* Dependable, professional, patient, and able to exercise good judgment
* Must successfully complete required background screening
* CPR/First Aid certification required or must be obtained within a designated period after hire
* Must complete MentorSports youth-protection and safety training
* Background check, CPR / First Aid within 45 days
* 10 training hours each year

Youth Program Assistant

About

The Youth Program Assistant supports the daily operation of the MentorSports Youth Development Program by assisting with supervision, instruction, enrichment activities, recreation, homework time, meals/snacks, and other program activities. The Assistant works under the direction of the Lead Youth Development Coordinator to maintain a safe, structured, positive, and engaging environment for participating youth.

Mon to Fri, 2:00 to 6:00 PM

What you'll do

* Assist with supervising children throughout program hours
* Support homework and designated study periods
* Assist with lessons, enrichment activities, games, sports, and recreation
* Help facilitate character development, leadership, teamwork, and life-skills activities
* Monitor youth behavior and reinforce program rules and expectations
* Assist with arrival, check-in, transitions, and dismissal
* Help maintain accurate attendance and basic program records
* Assist with snacks and meals as needed
* Prepare and organize activity areas, equipment, and supplies
* Maintain clean, organized, and safe program spaces
* Participate in field trips, special programs, and youth events as assigned
* Immediately report injuries, incidents, behavioral concerns, or safety issues to the Lead Youth Development Coordinator
* Work cooperatively with instructors, mentors, coaches, volunteers, parents, and other MentorSports staff
* Follow all child-safety, confidentiality, emergency, and organizational policies
* Perform other program-related duties as assigned

Requirements

* High school diploma or GED preferred
* Experience working with children or youth preferred
* Ability to interact positively and appropriately with children
* Dependable, patient, energetic, and able to follow established procedures
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Able to participate in indoor and outdoor recreational activities
* Must successfully complete required background screening
* CPR/First Aid certification required or willingness to obtain certification
* Must complete required MentorSports orientation, youth-safety training, and other assigned training
